Harding County has the smallest population of any county in New Mexico with about 810 inhabitants. The population is about 50% Anglo and 50% Hispanic. Beef cattle ranching is the main industry, and a section of the Kiowa National Grasslands is located in the northern region of the county. Carbon Dioxide wells are another natural resource.
